Is my child's photo safe?
We use it only to create the character, then delete it. We never sell data or use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Do I need to be able to draw or write?
No — you pick a theme; StoryMate does the rest.
How long does a book take?
Usually about 15–20 minutes; we email and notify you when it's ready.
What ages is it for?
Built for young children; it's operated by a parent or guardian.
Can other people see our stories?
No — everything is private by default. Sharing is optional: a private link, or the public gallery, which requires your consent and passes human review.
What are gems?
Gems (💎) are what you spend to make things. New accounts get 20 💎 free — enough for a character and an 8-page story. See pricing for what everything costs.
What's the difference between Free and Storyteller?
Storyteller gives 60 💎/month on the monthly plan, plus included narration, HD audio, PDF, offline reading, and gallery publishing. See pricing for the full comparison.
Can I download / print a book?
Yes — as a PDF, once you've made any purchase (including a redeemed gift; always included with Storyteller).
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime; you keep access until the end of your billing period.
Can I buy someone else a story?
Yes — send a gift from app.storymate.au/gift, no account required to buy. The recipient redeems the code whenever they're ready; codes are valid for 365 days. See gifts.
Which devices does it work on?
Any modern browser; installable as an app (PWA) on phone, tablet, and desktop, with offline reading for Storyteller.
