11.1 Currency & payment processor
All prices are in AUD (A$) and are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Applicable taxes (e.g. GST) are shown/added at checkout where required.
11.2 What you can buy
- Storyteller subscription — a recurring plan (see Section 11.3).
- One-time gem packs — Pouch (20 💎 / A$6.99), Jar (50 💎 / A$15.99), Chest (120 💎 / A$34.99). These are single purchases, not subscriptions.

11.3 Subscription & auto-renewal
Storyteller renews automatically at A$17.99/month or A$179/year at the then-current price until you cancel. Each period grants 60 💎. By subscribing you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method each period until cancellation.
11.4 Cancellation
You can cancel anytime from Settings or the billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Storyteller access and any remaining monthly gems until the end of the current paid period. We do not provide partial-period refunds except where required by law or under Section 11.6.
11.5 How gems work
- Gems are spent on actions (creating characters/stories, narration add-on, page regeneration — see pricing).
- Gems have no cash value, are not transferable, and cannot be redeemed for money.
- Subscription gems roll over while you remain subscribed, but the monthly grant will not raise your balance above 120 💎. Purchased pack gems are not capped and do not expire while your account is active. If your subscription ends, any unused gems remain usable and do not expire while your account is active.
11.6 Refunds
Our refund policy:
- Gem packs: refundable within 14 days of purchase if the gems are unused. Once any gem from a pack has been spent, that pack is non-refundable.
- Subscriptions: the current subscription payment is refundable within 14 days if the plan's gems for that period are unused and the account hasn't substantially used paid features; otherwise non-refundable, and you keep access to period end.
- Consumed gems / generated content: non-refundable (the service was rendered).
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe.
11.7 Failed or defective generations
If a story fails to generate, the gems charged for it are automatically refunded to your balance. If a purchase is faulty or not as described, contact support@storymate.au — we'll make it right.
11.8 Your consumer-law rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory consumer-protection laws that apply to you. Those rights operate in addition to this policy.
11.9 Billing questions & disputes
Email support@storymate.au before initiating a chargeback so we can resolve the issue quickly.
